Artist Statement
The key elements that inspire my work are color and texture derived from nature. I want to create curious, desirable objects, where decoration becomes the main function. The pieces are designed to be beautiful, glistening focal points that can adorn any interior. The palette is inspired by Japanese Prints like Ando Hiroshige’s ‘Sparrows, Moon and Blossoming Peach’. There is a wonderful simplicity in the use of pastel shades with a splash of vibrant color to highlight features. Since going to visit Leopold and Rudolf Blaschka’s exhibition at the design Museum in 2002, I have been fascinated by lampworking and it’s ability to mimic even the most minuet details in nature. The contrast between these details and the flowing organic qualities of hot blown glass have infinite possibilities and act as a brilliant contrast to one another, the fragile crystal forms set beside soft, almost velvet like folds.

Biography
Studying at Wimbledon School of Art for my Foundation Year led me to Ediburgh College of Art to study a Glass Degree. Exhibiting works throughout the UK led me to go back to education in 2007 to complete my Masters Degree and to obtain more knowledge and skills in the professional area at the Royal College of Art. In completeing my masters I hope to continue to sell work and set up my own business.
