Artist Statement
My work represents the contradiction between what we see and what we know. The objects are a balance between familiar shapes and unfamiliar actions to evoke the viewer’s curiosity and raise questions about whether what you have in front of you is possible. An important part of my process is a constant development of new ways to mould the glass using the materials fluidity and durability combined with moulds of materials such as paper and clay. What I am searching for are qualities reminding of different materials like fabric, rubber or ceramics to create illusions and those that only by looking closely and touching the piece the real nature of the object reveals. These elements of curiosity, doubt, interaction and surprise are the motivation for my work.
