BIGG Artist: Bridget Boss

Artist Statement
For a long time in my life, I was afraid to speak.  I would focus and strategize for so long that when I was finally ready to utter sound and piece together a succinct contribution to conversation, I almost always was left realizing it was too little too late. Language and an awareness of time became points of focus for me – as it was language, and the crafting of language that inevitably left me at the curb of conversation – bags in hand.  Through my artwork I create a code of personal process, harnessing my experiences on the curb and all that was left unsaid.

Biography
Bridget received her MFA in Glass from Ohio State University and her BFA in Glass and Metal Fabrication from New York State College of Ceramics and Glass Art at Alfred University. Bridget shows her work across the US and has exhibited abroad. She has been a teaching artist for nearly a decade in various glass-art and sculpture programs in the US and has extensive arts administration experience. She currently works as a grant writer for an arts organization in the New York area. Bridget lives just outside of New York City where she is raising her son Braedan and is in the process of building her own glassblowing studio.
