BIGG Artist: Robert Geyer

Artist Statement
Exploring the inherent properties of glass is the focus for myself using it as an art making material. I search out aspects of transparency, optics and phenomenology in glass as starting points for constructing objects and installations. These associations and the traditional usage of glass in industry and consumer products all combine to form the ideas for my work.

Biography
Robert Geyer is currently a full time faculty member of the Glass program at Alberta College of Art + Design in Calgary, Alberta. He did his MFA in Glass at Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia and his BFA in Sculpture at the Emily Carr Institute in Vancouver, Canada. He is very interested in role of glass as an art making material in the world of contemporary art and has three years of international teaching experience at the Bildwerk academy in Frauenau, Germany.
